Kelli's Cancer Challenge II

Here We Go Again

Apparently I have not updated this blog in a long time...and since quite a few of you are concerned about how thing are going, I thought I may as well fire this up again!

Let's start on a happy note - the picture you see was taken on the FIRST vacation I can ever remember Faron taking - EVER! His youngest brother's family joined us in Corpus for a week fishing, and the picture you see is Connor with his cousins (sisters).

In fact, the holiday began the week before when Kyle's family came to visit us in Houston. Then they went to see my mom in Portland and Scooter's family went to Portland at the same time, and I heard there was a huge dinner/party with aunts, uncles, and extended family before Faron and I showed up. Folks, life is short - have a party!

By the way, all the kids caught fish...although it may be more accurate to say a big redfish caught Jacey! Everyone except Connor is home now - Connor pretty much spends the entire summer fishing and playing golf with Gram and Papa.

My situation is that my cancer is growing again. It seems to be active in my bones, liver, and they found a pretty big tumor in my abdomen. At first my doc thought it was attached to my ovaries, but it isn't. I am waiting for an appointment for an OB/GYN consult and then we will all decide what to do next. it definitely looks like I am headed for chemo and I am not happy about it. God has been getting an earful.

However, I have decided that my pity party is now over. I know God can fix this if He chooses, and I know that when he doesn't choose, there is a reason for it. It just makes me tired.

I will commit to updating this for those of you who want to keep up, but think you are bothering me by calling. You are not bothering me.

If you do read this, please pray for Barbara, Dustin, Patrice, Sarah Ann, Jubi, Vivienne, Greg, Carol Anne, Francis, the family of Sydney, and the family of Brenda. These are people battling cancer or who have lost the battle - all from Portland.

Much love to you all! Kelli

Keli, we have not met yet but my name is Rhonda Niblack, Wayne's wife. To read your blog and to get a small glimpse of your world, you truly amaze me. You are inspiring and your love for our Lord is truly wonderful. We don’t know why we are given certain crosses to bear, what I do know is that whatever the enemy puts on us to harm us, Jesus turns it into something that will edify the body of Christ. He is so good to us, giving us grace and mercy new each day. I lived most of my life in destructive patterns; I trusted the Lord as my Savior and Redeemer a little over 4 years ago and have never looked back. The one thing I am confident and happy about is that this life is not all there is, Praise God!! You will be in my prayers along with your son and Faron. I would love to meet with you, maybe have some lunch when you feel like it or be there to pray with you during your treatments. Whatever you need please be sure and let me know. I will ask Wayne to give Faron my cell phone number. Did you get to listen to the Jason Upton cd yet? I have a couple more I can copy for you. It is great worship!! Blessings,
    Rhonda

Kelli, Thanks for updating your blog. You are so special to Liz and me.
Have you read "Safely Home"? It is a wonderful book and puts our lives on this earth in proper perspective.
I have added all of the Portland people to my prayer list. You are at the top. I love you, admire you, and praise The Lord that He has allowed us to serve him together in some small ways.
    Please keep us posted.

    Hi Mrs. Lofton!

I found this via google, and it was the only way I could see to contact you. :) I'm graduating from college this December after a long journey. You were right about me not being ready, but I don't think I would have ended up where I am now if I hadn't just suffered through it all! :)

I'm about to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Music. I'll be fully certified to be a band director! (I know.. it seems so obvious.)

You were instrumental in my life, and I've benefited from having known you. Oh and I still have Plant - the ivy that grew from your ivy in Physics. :)

I hope you're doing okay. My mom's kept me informed about the cancer whenever she heard something through the grapevine. If you're in Houston, I'd love to come see you or have lunch one day. I live out in Katy now.

My motivation for finding you was to get your address so I can send a graduation announcement, but I also felt it was important to write this, too. :) So if you don't mind emailing me your mailing address, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks for everything,
