Happy Birthday!

The latest cancer news...I only have TWO MORE chemo poisonings and go back to MD Anderson for another scan the first of June. Hopefully they won't be able to find anything and we can move on to the next stage. I am very hopeful because the last blood test for the 27.29 tumor marker was NORMAL. It hasn't been normal for more than a year! That is definitely a good sign that we might be through with this part of my treatment (in two weeks).
The chemo is starting to really kick my butt. I am tired and slightly nauseated all the time, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and figure two more weekends lying around on the couch watching movies isn't too bad. Let me rephrase...two more weeks lying around on the weekends...I am still teaching and my kids are putting up with me remarkably well.
I have some AWESOME news about my brother and his family...they are moving to Oklahoma this summer. Hopefully he won't be deployable - mom (and Bill) and dad (and Sue) REALLY need a break from the drama of a kid in Iraq and another with cancer - andwe are SOOO HAPPY they will all be much closer than California. We are looking forward to a visit from them in mid July when our cousin from Tenessee will be here to spent quality time with her dad/our uncle. I forsee LOTS of FISHING and fish frying in July!
I am feeling the blessings of the Lord through the generosity of his children in Christ every day. Just last week we received a gift certificate for a new business in town called white stripe catering company [www.whitestripecatering.com] These friendly folks will make you a complete dinner - just call them and tell them what you want - and you just go pick it up! I am talking about GREAT, healthy food for a very resonably price. The menu changes weekly, so if you live or work in Portland check out their website and go see them! I'm sure I will see you there!
I also got a wonderful surprise in the mail today... a box of frogs....... and a my "theme" verse of Jeremiah 29 verse 11 done in beautiful calligraphy and framed! Wow. The first time I was dealing with cancer, one of my former students heard about my struggle and she burned a music cd for me and she folded a green piece of paper into the shape of a frog...it was to remind me to Fully Rely On God. I loved the idea and took it to school where some kid "borrowed" my frog and never returned it. Anyway, Allie heard about my missing frog, so she sent me lots more frogs in the mail - one of them is a big, snuggly stuffed frog and the others are all letters from some of my other former students that were all folded into frogs. What a gift! I read and reread the letters and am just so happy to hear from all those kids and how well they are all doing. VERY FUN!!! Thanks to all of you!!
Thank you all for praying for me! God bless you all! Much love ! Kelli

Kelli,
I had no idea it was you birthday. You know of course, that officially that is the last birthday you have to admit to. Yep! After 40, it is always 39 and holding. Many good wishes, love and prayers for you always. You are such a dear sister in Christ to me. I have reviewed all your postings and you will never know how they have blessed me. I understand through your postings the faith Abraham must have had to leave his country for a place God would show him. What faith it must have taken for him to be obiedent to that. I see that kind of faith in you and it encourages me. May God continue to bless you with healing and strength.

Hi, Kelli! and a belated Happy Birthday. I remember it well as you and your mom were just coming home from the hospital the day Jim and I were married (May 6). So we celebrate our 40th the same week!!! So glad the chemo is almost over and we eagerly await good news from MD Anderson. And, what great news when your mom told us about Kyle's relocation. That is terrific! On another note, I just finished up my 7th and final year of Bible Study Fellowship. Yep, 32 weeks in Genesis. I plan to start another program in the fall at my church...probably a Disciples class. Anyway, once a person gets into the word and has such an understanding, it is difficult to imagine not continuing to study and learn something new every single day. What a blessing to know that God has a plan for each of us. Even if we have no idea what that plan may be, HE knows and He will make sure to guide us through. He is with us always, especially in our times of trial. And, isn't that what this life is about...test after test after test until we grow to be what he wants us to be. Love you much, Kelli. Thinking of you and praying for you always. Aunt Janet

Happy belated birthday! I still remember you when you were in high school, can't believe you're so old now! (just kidding!) I'm so happy your doing so well! My grandson, Dusty, just finished 3 mos. of chemo, it didn't quite do the job so he is getting ready to start the kind where they shoot the chemo directly into the affected area (lungs). Don't ask me how they do that! He goes back to MDA next week. Somehow I know God is taking care of this & I'm not worried. Besides, looking at you gives us all hope & faith. God bless you, hang in there girl! Love, Marietta Koester

Kellogg,
I am so sorry that it has been awhile since I have written. I had such a wonderful time visiting, working with your CDs (all thousands of them:), and just laughing with you. You are such an amazing person. Thank you for the comments on your blog but you must understand that it is I that appreciates and loves you so much. I plan to come down again soon. Call when you feel up to it.
Eventho I am not in contact everyday know that I am praying for you everyday. I pray that God gives you strength, understanding, healing and peace! You are my hero. Tell Conner and Faron hello and give them both my love.
I continue to pray for Kyle and his family too. Does this mean that you have been passing through the DFW metroplex??? Hmmmmmmm.
I love you! You and your family are beautiful in your birthday picture.
