Treatment Update

There isn't really much to tell. I had my third cycle of the new chemo and will have CT scans and a chest x-ray September 8. Will visit doctor on Sep. 9 to see if the chemo is working. If so, will have another cycle on Sep. 9. If not, we will find another plan.

The pre-meds for my chemo include a steroid, so I am having trouble sleeping. Luckily tomorrow is Saturday. That's pretty much it - except that my hair is very gray. In another couple of weeks it might just be purple!

....And Other Times He Gives Us Surprise Blessings!

At the beginning of Cancer Round II in December of 2005, my sister-in-law, Kristi, gave me a silver bracelet inscribed with the Jeremiah 29:11 verse. The bracelet was a constant reminder that God loves me, God is in charge, and God has a plan for me.

I think it was in 2007 that I was at an Emmaus team meeting and learned that one of my sisters-in-Christ (let's call her J) had been left by her husband of LOTS of years the month before. No warning. Just goodbye. She told me how that verse lifted her spirits, so I gave her the bracelet on the spot. Kind of a Holy Spirit thing - had I thought about it, I might not have done it! Then I had to explain to my sister-in-law that I gave away the bracelet. She, as usual, was very gracious.

Last weekend, while serving on another team, I met a woman who said "You're Kelli Lofton? I have your bracelet." This woman had had the same horrible experience J had, so my sister J gave this woman the bracelet and told her the story behind it. Since God had been at work healing J, she decided it was time to pass the scripture bracelet on.

This beautiful, wonderful woman told me about how much the bracelet verse meant to her and that she had the intention of passing it on when it was time.

Thank you to my sister-in-law for starting the chain. Thank you to God for allowing me to see the rest of the story.

De Colores!
